I have always loved being behind the lens of a camera. I can remember having “modeling” sessions with my younger sister growing up using my mom’s Canon Rebel and waiting anxiously for the film to be ready at the one-hour photo. There is something special about being able to freeze time and capture a moment.
When my oldest son was born, my husband’s gift to me was my very own camera. I had had digital cameras before, but this was a ‘big girl’ camera as he liked to call it. I spent every waking moment soaking up as much knowledge as I could about photography and shooting and light. It helped that I had my very own model toddling around the house as I followed after him shooting images like crazy.
It was then that I fell in love with the art of storytelling.
I loved capturing the tiniest of details about his ever growing little personality and freezing those within the confines of my camera frame. When our second son was born, that need to somewhat immortalize my kids’ childhood was burned in me forever. Our children grow quickly; the dozens upon dozens of moments that create their personalities and shape who they are pass by. I want to do everything I can to capture as many of those moments as I can.
For your family, and for mine.
“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
